The Lizard Prince volumes 1-2 [all]

Asuka Izumi
Published by: CMX
from the publisher: 17-year old Canary is a princess who was initially attracted to a handsome young prince, 17-year old Heath of a neighboring kingdom, during her first visit. Prior to their meeting, unbeknownst to her, Heath’s pet lizard was forced by his master to take a magic potion, which turned him into a look-alike of the prince. By doing so, the real Prince hoped to create chaos which would lead to the annulment the his engagement to Canary. However, Canary finds out the prince she met and fell in love with was indeed Sienna, the older brother of Heath…who was turned in to a lizard by a curse. Canary and Sienna are deeply in love, and they are determined to find a way to break the curse so that they can live happily ever after.
my ramblings: This series is one that definitely would appeal to a wide audience. There’s basically nothing about it that would cause me to think about giving it to a younger reader (in fact, I may let a friend’s younger sister borrow it because it is very all-ages appropriate).
There’s nothing too distinctive about the series, but it’s cute and  I suggest it if you’re looking for a very light (and short) read.
CMX seems to have done a fine job with editing and
There isn’t anything too distinctive about the art, but it’s definitely not bad, and it’s never hard to understand what it going on. I liked the series well enough that I hope someone will pick up what else Izumi has written (It seems she only has a few other short series and some oneshots and they all ran in LaLa DX, so it’s not impossible, since most publishers seem to be picking up short series and Viz tends to pick up LaLa series).
I don’t highly recommend this series, but I do recommend it if you just want something nice and short. It would be a great present for a younger manga reader. Since CMX is now gone, if you plan on checking the series out, I’d do it as soon as possible, before they’re impossible to find (which is, to be  honest, why I bought both volumes at the same time when I saw them in a local bookstore).

    Ah, I’m actually reading Shinigami no Ballad – the manga version – right now 8D. The manga-ka of Lizard Prince did the adaptation (and I think if I’m not mistaken CMX released it in the states).
    (ah, Shinigami no Ballad light novel…how I wish you were successful in the states so you could have had a release past vol #2…)

    Her artwork sort of bothers me but that’s because everyone in Shinigami no Ballad looks the same xD (is that the same for Lizard Prince?)
    I keep thinking, hey! Weren’t you in that other story about that little kid? Oh wait, you have a different name. DOH!
    Will keep my eye on this :3

    @warriorhope
    do~ It’s a great little short series. :]

    @sylphalchemist
    I think there are 4 volumes to Ballad of a Shinigami and only 3 got released by CMX as far as I can tell. :[
    (I wish the novels had done well too, I’d really have loved to read them. :[ )

    haha, yeah, there were a couple characters that I had a hard time keeping apart, but the whole cast of characters wasn’t too big, so it wasn’t too hard to keep them apart.
