Dates: unknown (somewhere in November 2008-somewhere in December 2008 )
Features: Ebeko from Mistress Fortune by: Arina Tanemura
Notes: I like this one…other than the fact that the text color doesn’t match perfectly… I tried to pull the color from the tips of Ebeko’s ears(?), but didn’t quite pick the right color, even with the eyedropper tool. : /
Dates: December 17, 2008 – December 27, 2008
Features: Takuto and Mitsuki from Full Moon by: Arina Tanemura, Syaoran and Sakura from Tsubasa by: CLAMP, and Amu from Shugo Chara! by: Peach-Pit
Notes: For some reason, the blue border doesn’t show up when I use this banner…I’m not sure why. It still works though, so whatever…
Dates: December 27, 2008 – February 1, 2009
Features: young Kisaki and Ebeko from Mistress Fortune by: Arina Tanemura
Notes: I love this banner, other than the fact that the writing is kind of fuzzy in the real size and I kinda messed up the star a little. I used this in honor of the Mistress Fortune tankoban being released on December 25, 2008. : D This is the first header to feature my blog’s new title of “kelakagandy’s ramblings”.
Dates: February 1, 2009 – February 15, 2009
Features: Nadeshiko, Amu, and Yaya from Shugo Chara! by Peach-Pit
Notes: I really like this banner!!! The only thing I don’t like about it is the text. I like the tag line, but the font is really ugly…I need to so something about getting some next fonts. This is of course my Valentine’s Day banner. : D Let’s just pretend we don’t know that Nadeshiko is really a boy, shall we? xD
Dates: February 15, 2009 – February 24, 2009
Features: Sakura from Sakura Hime Kaden by: Arina Tanemura
Notes: I think this was the second banner I made when I went on a banner-making spree when I downloaded Gimp. xD I like this one, especially the pattern I used on the close-up of her eyes.
Dates: February 24, 2009 – March 20, 2009
Features: Momoka and Ryuga from St. ♥ Dragon Girl by: Natsumi Matsumoto
Notes: I take no credit for the numerous brushes I used here; they’re all from other deviantart users. I have all the ones I downloaded bookmarked, I just don’t know which ones are from which sets… It was really hard to find images from this series, which I guess isn’t too surprising, it’s not too popular and it’s been over for a few years…it was still sad though. D: This is really just a placeholder header til I can make a new one this size for the new theme.
Font made by me using yourfonts.com
Dates: March 20, 2009 – April 25, 2009
Features: Alice and Nyozeka from Alice 19th by: Yuu Watase
Notes: I made this in like the dead of winter (when I discovered Yuu Watase’s site had lots of images) and then totally forgot about it. xD Luckily I found it in time for the first day of spring! : D Not much going on, but I really like it anyway; All the swirls make me happy. :] Alice 19th was the first manga series I bought all of (I’ve bought the first volume of Alice 19th about 4 times, for various reasons xD ), and also my first Watase series, which makes it really special to me. It’s also just one of my favorite Watase series in general.
Dates: April 25, 2009 – July 17, 2009
Features: Kiri and Shampoo from Beauty Pop by: Kiyoko Arai
Notes: I really like this one a lot actually! : D I had to like completely re-draw Kiri’s freaking hand (which is pretty noticable), but I think I did a fairly good job… I originally meant to put this up with my review of BP volume 10…and proceeded to forget about it for 2 weeks. xD
Dates: July 17, 2009 – July 31, 2009
Features: Anna Koshiro from Stardust Wink by: Nana Haruta
Notes: I haven’t actually read this series, since no one has scanlated it, and it’s not available legally yet, but it’s just so adorable and summer-y that I had to use it!!! : D I actually made it in the car on the way home from the beach, so I was feeling extra summer-y. xD I didn’t do too much to the image, other than moving the watermelon slice and her hands up (I’m pretty proud of the crop job I did on the hands actually, lol). I really like this one, though it looks really blurry thanks to WordPress. :[
Dates: July 31, 2009 – October 10, 2009
Features: Sue from Clover by: CLAMP
Notes: I was so ridiculously excited about the new Clover omnibus and the fact that Dark Horse announced they would be publishing omnibus editions of Magic Knight Rayearth, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Chobits that I made this and posted my review of the new Clover omnibus edition on the same day. And the day I bought my copy of Clover, I got the CLAMP/Dark Horse bag from Comic-Con that I ordered on Ebay. It was a CLAMP extravaganza. xD
Anyway, about the actual header: I took the tagline (which I don’t normally do) from the song “Clover” from the manga. I think it fits pretty well with the image, since Sue has her hands crossed like she’s wishing/hoping/praying. :] I re-made this like a hundred times; it was ridiculous, but I really love how it came out, and it looks great on wordpress too, which never happens!! : D
Dates: October 10, 2009 – November 1, 2009
Features: Kazehaya and Sawako from Kimi ni Todoke by: Karuho Shiina
Notes: I actually love this one! It turned out great! I finally learned to use the cloning tool in GIMP, so the background actually looks alright! xD The font was downloaded from fontstruct.fontshop.com (so all rights and everything to whichever user made it!!!) and I love it! It’s a great font! The image is from animepaper.net (and was scanned from the Shojo Beat 2009 calendar). Again, this actually looks good on WP, so that makes me even happier! : D
Dates: November 1, 2009 – January 17, 2010
Features: Sumi and Soichiro from Hadashi de Bara wo Fume (Stepping on Roses/Stepping on Roses Barefoot) by: Rinko Ueda
Notes: Love this one too! : D I decided I was going to make a “manga to look forward to” post a while ago, and since I had to make a new banner after Halloween, this is what came out. :] It was really hard to find images for a Hadashi banner, which made me sad, but I like how it turned out in the end.
Dates: January 17, 2010 – March 31, 2010
Features: Ichigo and Vanilla from Yumeiro Patissiere by: Natsumi Matsumoto
Notes: I wish I liked this one more…I loved the idea, but I didn’t have any fonts or cute stamps downloaded to my new computer yet, so it turned out like this. :[ It’s kind of my Valentine’s Day header too (what with all the pink and such). Well, hopefully I’ll make another YumePati banner in the future to make up for it~
Dates:March 31, 2010 – May 17, 2010
Features: Miku and (teruterubozu) Kyohei from Cactus’s Secret by: Nana Haruta
Notes: I really like this one too~ I tried to use the same color scheme as the original image. I think I did a fairly good job too. I don’t love the background, but it works well enough. New tagline of “overusing the word adorable~” because really, I overuse the word adorable, haha.
Dates: May 17, 2010 – August 30, 2010
Features: Hinata and En from Usotsuki Lily (Liar Lily) by: Ayumi Komura
Notes: I haven’t seen more of this than is on the preview on the Margaret site, but I can already tell it’s full of lulz. Seeing as En (the green-eyed one in the banner) is actually a guy, you know it’s all sorts of cracky (genderbending is such fun sometimes). It seems to be doing pretty well in Margaret too, which is nice (based on the fact that there are usually more images from the series on the main page for the mag than others and it’s had like 4 or 5 covers and it’s only like 12 chapters in). I really hope Viz is able to license more of Ayumi Komura’s works in the near future (after the down-sizing though, who knows how much licensing they’ll be doing), since all they currently have is Mixed Vegetables, and it only has one volume left.
Dates: August 30, 2010 – December 12, 2010
Features: Kotoko and Naoki from Itazura na Kiss by: Kaoru Tada
Notes: I’d been watching It Started with a Kiss with a friend recently and it made me re-read the manga as well, so obviously I had to create a new banner (it was high time for a new one anyway, the last one was up for almost 3 months). After some intense googling, I found this fantastic scan of a kiss~ It wasn’t really a full scan though, so I found a brush to go around the image in a circle, and it just happened to be a strange gear, hence all the gears in the background as well. The text doesn’t really pop, but since the image is really the focal point, I don’t mind. :]
Dates: December 12, 2010 – September 21, 2011
Features: Nana Osaki from Nana by: Ai Yazawa
Notes: I really like it~ I only turned the image sideways, resized it, cloned the scarf across the header, and added the text, so it was super easy, but I love how it turned out. I was going to make a Christmas banner, but figured with my recent track record of not changing banners for months that it made more sense to make a general winter banner. Tried to match the font to the font Viz uses, and it’s not exact, but it’s actually pretty close, so yay~
Dates: September 21, 2011 – current
Features: Usagi and Chibiusa from Sailor Moon by: Naoko Takeuchi
Notes: Love how simple yet cute it turned out~ One of my favorites thus far! It took a bit to cut out Usagi and Chibiusa from the crazy polka dot print they were originally on, but it was super quick after that; mostly a matter of how I wanted to arrange them. Obviously made in celebration for the reprints of the manga by Kodansha Comics! :D
